IT Support Specialist (Regional)
Our Client is a globally-renowned statistical ranking organization offering a wide range of services in the financial and investment sector.
JOB OVERVIEW:
The successful candidate will be responsible for providing onsite network and desktop support to employees within the Singapore office and offering remote support to others located at offices within the Asia Pacific region and internationally.
This position is part of the Asia Pacific IT helpdesk group which is responsible for providing, maintaining and developing the network infrastructure and desktop services to all employees within the Asia Pacific region. The group is responsible for all aspects of data communications within region and works in conjunction with the US and UK IT staff to ensure the highest availability of services possible.
Since this role will be the first point of contact for all technical matters in Singapore and potentially any IT matters in the region, the technical requirements for the role are correspondingly broad.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Investigate and resolve hardware and software related issues in the Singapore and international offices, as raised by local staff or IT staff globally.
- Monitor global helpdesk database/mailbox and act upon assigned support requests, within the specified timeframes.
- Ensure users and other technical staff are kept informed of progress throughout the lifetime of a support request through regular emails / phone calls and periodic progress updates to the incident database.
- Administration of the local server and network infrastructure, including administration of the Cisco IP telephony environment.
- Liaise with local hardware vendors to co-ordinate ordering of company hardware as required (and with management approval).
- Manage the implementation and refresh of company hardware (Desktop and Network Infrastructure) in line with Global Standards
- Monitor stock of IT consumables (toners, backup tapes etc.) for the office and order as required.
- Maintain (create where appropriate) documentation for IT systems and services.
- Co-ordinate escalation of requests that require resolution by other technical staff or 3rd party groups.
- Liaise with external support providers to resolve local site technical issues when required.
- Produce monthly report identifying local IT support issues raised within that period.
- Maintain inventory of company IT equipment (servers, PC’s, laptops, printers etc.) for the regional locations.
- Co-ordinate and Manage Office moves within the Region
- Travel to other sites may be requested on occasion to perform maintenance and system upgrades.
- Ensure network data is effectively backed up and appropriate DR procedures are maintained to ensure minimal downtime.
- Monitor Global systems and respond with agreed support processes and procedures, escalating where appropriate
REQUIREMENTS:
- Diploma or Degree in Computer Engineering, IT or its equivalent.
- Certifications on Microsoft/Cisco/IBM are added advantage.
- Relevant experience on the following:
- Microsoft Windows, Office, Outlook/Exchange, Lotus Notes/Domino.
- Microsoft W2K3/W2K8 Server and Active Directory administration
- Cisco IPT CCME platform (CCME and CUE)
- Cisco IOS knowledge
- ITIL environment
- Experience of the following hardware would be beneficial – Dell PowerEdge servers, Dell OptiPlex desktops, Lenovo laptops, Cisco routers and switches
- Understanding of networking theories, topologies and protocols.
- Methodical approach with lateral thinking ability.
- Ability to actively manage work load and prioritise when needed.
- Ability to work independently and part of a team.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Must be able to express ideas clearly and concisely particularly over the telephone.
